To many close to me, they are aware of my recent bout of gall stones, which led to other abdominal issues and put me in hospital. For those that do not know, I was recently put into hospital for 5 days with pancreatitus, inflamed gall bladder, infected liver and impacted intestines. All from some gall stones in my gall bladder. The pain was excruciating. it turns out that gall stones are contributed to from a high fat diet &/or high cholesterol. I was stuck in the hospital emergency room, with all the noise, lights, beeps, chimes, patients in pain, groaning through the night. I had no wifi & no tv. The only thing that kept me close to sane was my laptop, full of movies. The only drag of being in hospital that I was spared was the horrible food! Though I would have liked to have eaten something, I was not allowed to. Due to the mess that my abdomen was in, I was not allowed to eat any foods for almost 5 days! I was only allowed to have fluids on the 5th day! Weight loss is not a bad thing for me, but that style was not what I wanted. I like to think that I eat well and for sure, I cook good healthy meals when at home, but when at work I do not work hard enough to find healthy options. When at home, too, I snack on inappropriate foods like cookies, chips and chocolate. Sound familiar? many of you probably eat very similarly to me.
Learn something from me now and be very conscious of what you are eating. The busier you are, the more important it is to be aware of your eating habits as you may be so busy that you are not able to do the fitness you need either.
Learn from my pain. Watch what what you eat before you are no longer able to eat what you want, no matter how much you want to.
ps if you know someone in the hospital, please do your best to visit them. If you have never been in the hospital for any length of time, you may not know how lonely and scary it can be. I was shocked at how many patients in the emergency room went the whole time I was there, alone with no visitors. If you have family or friends in there, you need to do what you can to visit regularly, no matter how tough it is on you. You may need others to visit you someday.
